Mr. Ahmad Mukhtar, Commercial Secretary

Mr. Ahmad Mukhtar, is responsible for Agriculture, SPS/TBT and TRIPS related issues. Prior to joining the Mission he was working in the WTO Wing, Ministry of Commerce Pakistan. He has also worked with the Board of Investment Pakistan and the National Tariff Commission. He has worked with the USAID and EU as consultant/advisor in various economic, trade and WTO related projects.
Mr. Mukhtar has master degrees in Economic Policy, Economics, PGD in Applied Economics and LL.B. He also has professional qualifications of Chartered Accountancy, Management Accountancy and Public Finance Accountancy. He has also attended various international trainings, seminars and workshops on variety of issues in WTO, Trade Policy, Intellectual Property, Finance and Public Policy. He received the Global Ambassador Fellowship in 2002 to study for MPP at KDI School South Korea. He has also received the TAJIMA award in Pakistan and international leadership and visitor fellowship from USA.
Mr. Mukhtar has written various research papers and articles many of which have been published in local and international press. His recent publication is “GATS and Education sector in Pakistan” published in an ILO book.
