The 58th meeting of the Advisory council of Ministry of Commerce

The 58th meeting of the Advisory council of Ministry of Commerce was held today. Secretary commerce Syed Asif Shah chaired the meeting. Chief executive Trade Development Authority of Pakistan Mr Tariq Ikram, Chairman National Insurance Corporation NICL, President FPCCI Mr Tanveer Sheikh, and deputy governor state Bank attended the meeting besides officials from the Ministry of commerce. A large number of the stakeholders representing various trade bodies and chambers of commerce also attended the meeting.
In his inaugural speech, secretary commerce said, it was a consultative session. We would hear all the stakeholders and would give due importance to their input. All the importers, exporters and industrialists are present here to give their input for trade policy formulation. President FPCCI Mr Tanveer Sheikh, in his address said, we are aware of the fact that in the ongoing era of free economy our exports are at the countenance of competition aroused by our competitors like India, China Thiland and even Bangla Desh. Chief Executive TDAP Tariq Ikram gave a presentation on the working of the TDAP. The presentation was highly appreciated by the council.
Then the house was open for discussion. A large number of the participants took part in the discussion. Their suggestion focused on their problems they were facing in their business. They desired for one window facilitation service. Importers of the raw material for export industry desired for zero rate duty. They demanded for better service in the commercial consulates in foreign embassies. They also desired for the capacity building of manufacturers.
At the end, secretary commerce concluded the meeting by saying that the Ministry would go through all these suggestions and the important input would be incorporated into the Trade policy. He thanked all the participants for giving valuable input. |
