DEAD SEA (May 19 2007): Pakistan and Jordan on Friday signed an agreement to expand co-operation between the two countries in different fields. The agreement was signed here by Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz and his Jordanian counterpart Marouf Al-Bakhit after their meeting on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum.
The agreement titled "Pakistan-Jordan Strategic dialogue" will facilitate development of bilateral relations in diverse fields including trade and economic co-operation, diplomatic relations and exchange of experts. Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz told journalists the agreement provides a framework for boosting co-operation in various fields through discussions and expert-level consultations. He said Jordan had achieved great success in drip irrigation system and Pakistan would be able to get benefit from the experience of the Jordanian brothers.
Shaukat Aziz said that Jordanian experts in this special technology would visit Pakistan to help increase agricultural production. The prime minister said that both countries have similar views on the Middle East issue. He said that the private sector of the two countries would also cooperate with each other to promote two-way trade. Shaukat Aziz said Pakistan would also offer educational facilities to the Jordanian students in different institutions in the country.
The Jordanian Prime Minister said that the agreement would be helpful to have more interaction and provide assistance to each other for the benefit of the people of the two countries.
