Training course on collection of Services Statistics

A two day training course will be held in the Statistics Division, Islamabad on 2&3 May 2007, as a part of the WTO technical training and capacity building National Activities. (Provisional Agenda)
Around forty five participants are expected to attend. The training will be aimed at both the producers and users of trade in services statistics. The participants will include representatives from respective ministries, State Bank of Pakistan, federal and provincial statistical offices and private associations active in the services trading sector. The training course is aimed at raising awareness among different groups of the importance of services statistics and their uses.
The Federal Statistics Secretary Mr. Asad Illahi, while in Geneva in early March held a meeting with WTO Statistics Division's Chief of Section. He was interested in ensuring that the quality and standards of trade related statistics in Pakistan were at par with International Standards. The Statistics Division is keenly interested in technical training and capacity building of their officials and those of other federal and provincial organizations involved in collection and analysis of the trade related data for goods and services according to latest international requirements
