Pakistan’s ambassador to the WTO Dr. Manzoor Ahmad
was the lucky winner in the recently held Ambassador’s Golf Tournament
held on 22 August 2004 in Neuchetal. More than 100 Ambassadors based in
Switzerland and Swiss Ambassadors based abroad took part in the competition.
Besides winning golf trophies from the Swiss Foreign Office and Volvo,
he was also awarded two business class tickets by the sponsors Air Swiss
for travel anywhere in the world.
Earlier he also emerged as a winner in a table tennis
competition organized by the Chinese Mission to the WTO. In the final
match, he beat a tough challenge from the Australian Ambassador David
Spenser.
However, he ran out of luck for the WTO ski championship race. In a practice
run before the competition, he met an accident which prevented his participation
in the competition. His team mate (his son Amir Ahmad) represented Pakistan
Mission in the IceMexPak team which consisted of staff members and their
families from the Missions of Iceland, Mexico and Pakistan.
The skiing accident also kept him out of the finals of
football matches of the WTO ambassadors organized by the Canadian Mission.
