Pakistan seeks clarity on Indian trade regime

During the trade policy review of India on 23-25 May 2007, Pakistan valued Indian trade policy as a rewarding outcome of robust unilateral tariff reforms and highly educated youth. Speaking at the review session in WTO this Wednesday, Ambassador Manzoor Ahmad added that while the trade in industrial goods and services has shown remarkable progress, the agriculture sector remains protected. Hence a significant decline in growth of agriculture sector. Questioning the transparency of Indian trade regime, he attributed the negative balance of trade between India and Pakistan to numerous non-tariff barriers and complications in Indian SPS standards.
