The Commercial Section
Since April 2005, the responsibility for bilateral commercial activities between Pakistan and Switzerland has been shifted to the Permanent Mission of Pakistan to the WTO. From that on, a focused commercial strategy was developed alongside traditional commercial information and support activities.
The assessment of bilateral commercial relations has shown significant prospects for successful penetration of Pakistani products. The Commercial Team has focused on promoting the existing offers from Pakistan and specific export strategies that better target the Swiss market.
These initiatives seem to be bearing fruit and our exports during 2006 would hopefully surpass the target of 50% increase which the Commercial Team had set itself to achieve.
The major products that Pakistan exports to Switzerland are mainly: Textile, Ethanol, dried mushrooms, carpets, Sports goods, and rice On the other hand, Pakistan imports heavy machinery and equipments, pharmaceutical products, clocks and watches, electronic equipment from Switzerland.
